Between the Trees

Did my mile with some pick ups today. I figure since I ignored the speed work part of the training plan, I might as well add these in on occasion.

Had a great day (literally) with Dr. Fatehi today, really just talking.

August 31: 1 mile in Prospect Park

Either tomorrow or Saturday I'll do my long run - another loop of the Park. Getting my haircut tomorrow, so I guess it depends what time I wake up. And more importantly, what time I go to bed...

In a Loop

So I didn't do my 30 min run yesterday. And after class today, I simply needed a nap. If I went to sparring, I would have gotten my ass kicked. So instead, a took an hour nap and then did my run.

August 30: 1 loop of Prospect Paek (3.3 miles, I think) in 33 minutes.

Situps and pushups when I get inside. But right now, I'm enjoying this beautiful night.

25 is getting easier, but not quite "easy." When it gets easy, I'll up it to 50/50. It'll be good for my longer runs anyhow.

Mini-FUR streaker

So there's a Facebook group called FUR streaker 2/50/50. They run 2 miles a day, do 50 sit-ups and 50 push-ups. Oh, and 10 pull-ups, but those are optional. I decided to start it out at half. Still doing my mile, but now added the 25/25. Been at it a week so far and so far, so good!

Aug 25: 1 mile in Red Lodge before dinner
Aug 26: 1 mile in Red Lodge in the morning in 44 degrees in shorts and tank top (not quite dressed for the weather)
Aug 27: 1 mile before karate by myself
Aug 28: 1 mile before karate with Marco - glad he's back!

Yesterday, did plenty of sit-ups and push-ups at karate (well over 50 pushups and 3 min of situps). Today, I had to do them at home. Tomorrow it's an off day for karate, but I need to do a 30 min run for my training for the 10K!

Another full day of interviews today. Then it's off to Red Lodge tomorrow. It's giving me a great deal to think about...

Early Morning

Well, got out of bed by 7 when the alarm went off at 6. I consider that mildly successful for a weekend.

Aug 18: Prospect Park 1 mile

Right calf is tight and that ankle still hurts from karate last week. And the blister on my right foot. Guess if I cut off my right side at the knee, I'd be doing pretty well.

Time to shower/pack. Off to LI for writing day with Oggie and Jenny and then home on the ferry to see the family.

My blister

Thanks Sensei Ross. Whatever footwork drills we did last night game me a 3 cm blister on the ball of my right foot. Cut it open last night, put a blister block on it, but unlike my old blisters on my arches, this hits the ground with every step.

Aug 17: Prospect Park 1 mile

Got a training program for the 8K in November. Figured I could adapt it for the 10K in October. Course, this blister needs to heal!

Morning Run

Getting into a routine now. Run before karate on Mon & Tues, run in the morning Wed, before karate on Thurs and then ideally morning on Fri.

It's even nicer when the mid-week Wed run is later because I'm interviewing in Staten Island this morning.

Upping the mileage? Yeah, still gotta do that. Maybe on a non-kicking week.

I can't even run a mile as fast as the men run one of their mile splits in the marathon! 4:42 at mile 23? Riiiight.

As I've said many times in the last 3+ years, I need to up my mileage. But this time, I have a reason. 10K I October, 8K in November. Better find a training plan!

Not Quite Hot, But Humid

So turns out the weathermen gave a scale for humidity. And a score over 70? Well, as they said on the news, equals "gross.". Yep, yep it does.

So the run in the morning leaves me free to study tonight. Last night was a great night catching up with old friends (Kirthi & Anita).

Vail AACR/ASCO

This course has been stellar! I can even put into words...the most intense, most productive week for learning about clinical trials.

Course, this is an altitude thing here...I ran slow (10+ min miles) and drank a ton of water. It's done tonight, and tomorrow, head back to Denver.

July 28: 1 mile on treadmill
July 29: 1 mile slow outside
July 30: 1.2 miles
July 31: 1.5 miles
August 1: 1.1 miles
August 2: 1.3 miles
