Willam Frank Killegrew

Today was the day I delivered Vanessa. I found out Vanessa was pregnant when she was a "missed period old." She told me right away (it was the end of my third year) and asked me to do her repeat c-section. Vanessa is an attending in one of the best private practices in town. She was pregnant when I started residency and delivered her baby girl in August of my intern year. I remember being on that night and seeing her family in the waiting room - I remember watching and being there as my chief operated on her friend. And to be asked to do her repeat c-section - one where knew would be challenging - was an honor. I'm still the only intern that operated with Vanessa on a c-section. It means she trusts me and thinks I'm a good surgeon. And that means alot to me. So at 9:50 this morning, 10 lb 9 oz William Frank Killegrew was born. Apgars 9/9, 21.5 inches long. It was the best thing I've done in a while. Absolutely amazing. Her family was so great, her sisters are amazing. I can't believe I got to do it!

February 12th: U - actually W - of the apartment complex
Songs: One Step at a Time, Come on Over, Panic at the Disco Bridegroom
Distance: 1 mile
Time: no watch again today
Weather: 45 degrees, cloudy and windy, feels like 35
Feeling: Windy. Just want it done. What a day.

Now my last requested c-section of the year comes up the end of this month - Donna and Bill, two of our nurses on 17N who got married last year. It'll be Bill's first time in the delivery room (errr, the OR). I can't wait for that now!
