Can't Wait to be a Grown Up

February 24th: 3/4 lap of the apartment complex, then 1 full lap and some sidewalk running
Songs: can't even remember...
Distance: 1+ mile
Time: no watch
Weather: 28 degrees, clear, feels like 19
Feeling: I really just want the anger to go away...

So today we had a Code Noelle again. I did the case with Davenport, Conway, Ogburn and Figueroa. That's a lot of attendings. She's in the SICU, intubated, but should do well, I suspect. Then, after I tied up some ante strings, Shelly and Chanda are in the ER evaluating a patient with Ogburn who has an acute abdomen. They level her for the OR, but the attending at home (on gyn backup) doesn't think that she needs to go to the OR. So they don't have anyone to take her to the OR. I say that I'll happily put in a scope (since our MFM attending isn't comfortable with it) and I'll take her to the OR. I'm so sick of our attendings NOT coming to see patients with us, NOT taking people to the OR who need to go, NOT doing the RIGHT THING by the patient.

I can't wait to grow up, cause in a few months, I can just take these people to the OR. No more dicking around.

Needless to say, my run didn't make me feel better. I set out with my pager, cause I knew that Chanda would be calling me at some point. I forgot my cell phone, so when I was in the far corner of the apartment complex, my pager went off. I sprinted home, running through some lawns and called her back. Then I talked to Shelly, who told me the patient's abdomen was WORSE and the attendings didn't want to take her to the OR. So I went back out to run, finishing a lap and then running on all the sidewalks on my half of the apartment complex.
