Prospect Park

I remember when I first moved to NYC and ran in Central Park ~ I came home and posted on AIM that I just fell in love with NYC by running through Central Park.

I feel the same way about Prospect Park ~ the park in my backyard, on a slightly smaller scale than Central Park.

I don't know Prospect as well as I know Central ~ I know Central Park has those West Side Hills that trick me every time. No, not the Great Hill ~ the rolling hills that happen on the lower West Side of the Park. Prospect Park doesn't really have rolling hills. It has one continuous hill from the far side of the Park up to Grand Army Plaza and just when you think it's done, it keeps going up the Park Slope Side. It only starts to go downhill about a mile before I get home. I think it's pretty much a mile and a quarter uphill, a mile downhill and a mile that's flat. The loop itself if 3.35 miles. And I ran-walked-ran that today.

May 29: 1 loop of Prospect Park
Time: Didn't time it
Songs: In my Head, Love Drug, Fireflies, Just Dance...and a bunch of others. It was a good mix today.
Feeling: The duration of the hill took me by surprise. But otherwise, felt great!

I'll be a little more prepared for the park in the future. And I'm sure I'll become quite familiar with it, since it'll be my daily run!
